iSET Products
iSET is a suite of commercial-ready embedded software solutions that
have been integrated together to form a powerful set-top box system.
Century offers a number of software bundles for use in a range of set-top
box applications as well as professional support services targeted at
specific hardware platforms.
iSET Software Bundle 1.0
With support for basic set-top box functionality, this iSET bundle contains
all the features required for baseline set-top box design. Included in
this bundle is full support for most CATV analog tuners; a full-featured
HTML 3.2 compliant web browser; basic MPEG streaming; and support for DVD
playback (play, pause, stop, fast-forward).
Also included in the basic bundle is Century's WebMedia™ GUI system,
which provides for extremely rapid design and testing of custom menus
and control systems for set-top boxes.
iSET Software Bundle 1.1
This software bundle enhances the features found in the basic software
package and delivers an optimized tool suite that supports video-on-demand
(VOD) services delivered over copper or fiber broadband connections.
In addition to all features found in iSET 1.0, this bundle features a
2NetFX video-on-demand streaming client; connectivity for IP multicast
based on RTP, RTSP, and RTCP protocols; and IrDA support that allows
handheld remotes and wireless keyboards to be used to remotely control
the set-top box.
iSET Software Bundle 1.2
Incorporating technologies from both the iSET 1.0 and iSET 1.1 releases,
this software bundle offers X Windows support and advanced web browsing
capabilities.
In addition to all iSET 1.0 and 1.1 features, this software suite adds
support for X Windows and X-based applications. At the top of the list
is the
Mozilla web browser, which offers advanced HTML 4.0 compatibility,
JavaScript, CSS, DHTML, and support for plugins based on the
industry-standard Netscape API.
Available plugins for the Mozilla browser include the
RealPlayer streaming media client; web-based animation playback based on
Flash;
the
Adobe Acrobat document reader; and Scalable
Vector Graphic (SVG) support.
Also integrated into the Mozilla web browser are a number of indispensible
Internet applications including email (POP, IMAP, SMTP, MIME, and
attachment support); News, FTP, and Gopher clients; Internet Relay Chat (IRC);
and instant messaging.

VT Media Technologies VT900 Developers Kit
Century has joined with
VT Media Technologies to offer a complete,
integrated, commercial-ready hardware/software bundle based on the
low-cost
VT900 platform.
The VT900 hardware platform (included in this package) is built around a
300 Mhz National
Semiconductor Geode CPU. In addition to standard computer features,
this board has hardware support for DVD decoding and playback,
up to 256 Mb of RAM, 10/100 Mb Ethernet, up to 288 Mb disk-on-chip,
and real-time analog video processing.
Century will also provide, at no additional cost, the next release
of the VT900 hardware platform that will incorporate the new
National Semiconductor SC1200 CPU.
Century's iSET software suite is used to drive and control all
hardware features found in the VT900. The software includes a Linux
kernel port, all required drivers and modules, video middleware API's,
Century's WebMedia graphical environment, and a baseline menu system.
Rounding out this package is a range of professional services from
Century that include 60 days email and phone support; all software binaries
pre-loaded on the VT900 platform; full source code on CD; and 15
hours of custom development services.
A professional services upgrade is also available that increases phone
and email support to 90 days; adds 5 more hours of custom development
services (a total of 20 hours); and assigns a dedicated technical support
engineer to stay familiar with your design issues and needs.

National Semiconductor SP1SC10 Development Platform
In June, 2001,
National Semiconductor announced
that it had selected Century Embedded Technologies as their
Technical Partner for Linux set-top box support. Century has worked closely with
National in developing the
SP1SC10 set-top box reference platform, and
many components of iSET form the software demonstration program that it
ships with.
The SP1SC10 reference platform was developed by National as a
starting point for set-top box manufacturers, developers and OEM's.
National partners who have joined this program can leverage our
experience with the SP1SC10, and dramatically reduce their time-to-market.
Century's iSET software suite is used to drive and control all
hardware features found in the SP1SC10. The software package includes a Linux
kernel port, all required drivers and modules, video middleware API's,
Century's WebMedia graphical environment, and a baseline menu system.
Also included are a range of professional services from Century that
include 60 days email and phone support; all software binaries
pre-loaded on the SP1SC10 platform; full source code on CD; and 15
hours of custom development services.
A professional services upgrade is also available that increases phone
and email support to 90 days; adds 5 more hours of custom development
services (a total of 20 hours); and assigns a dedicated technical support
engineer to stay familiar with your design issues and needs.
