MPEG1/MPEG2 Audio/Video Decoding

MPEG is the universal standard for the broadcast and delivery of high-quality, compressed, audio/video programming. MPEG data streams are the basis for DVD playback and multicast IP streaming. In addition to the real-time conversion of an MPEG stream into digital video with CD-quality audio, most hardware decoders also contain circuitry used to decrypt the MPEG streams found on most DVD discs.

This iSET component controls the MPEG1/MPEG2 decoding and decryption engines and is used to recover the audio and video signals from the MPEG data stream. Additional features of this module can include the ability to filter and scale the video output, and the selection of audio formats (left/right stereo, Dolby AC3, etc.)
