Closed Captioning
All televisions and set-top box systems sold or deployed in the United States are required by law to support full text captioning and display in accordance with the Television Decoder Circuitry Act of 1990, the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, the Telecommunications Act of 1996, and other pending federal and state legislation.
iSET contains full support for closed captioning, including the use of required character sets and the extraction and interpretation of captioning data from the TV video signal on scanlines 21 and 283. All captioning styles are supported: roll-up, pop-on, and paint-on captioning methods.
